Martha Tilaar
Martha Tilaar is
a successful business woman. Her trademark is Sariayu Martha Tilaar. She was
born on September 4th 1937, in Kebumen. Her husband is H.A.R Tilaar. She has 4 children, they are Bryan Emil Tilaar, Pinkan Tilaar, Wulan Tilaar,
and Kilala Tilaar. After she had
graduated from Academy of Beauty Culture, Bloomington , USA, she opened salon.
In 1970 she came back to Indonesia and opened salon in her father’s garage
which is just 6x4m in large. She advertised her salon by giving leaflet to the
human society. She also approached the local society to have loyal costumer. In
1972, she opened her second salon at Anggur Street 3, Cipete, Kebayoran Baru,
Jakarta Selatan and used new trademark “Sariayu Marta Tilaar”. She opened salon
to keep Indonesian Women’s beauty.
Marta Tilaar and
Theresia Harsini Setiady from PT Kalbe Farma built cosmetic company named PT
Martina Berto. Their first product is Sariayu Martha Tilaar. Then Martha Tilaar
built her first cosmetic factory in Pulo Ayang Street, Pulo Gadung, Jakarta
Timur.
In 1983 Martha Tilaar built PT Sariayu Indonesia as distributor of Sariayu Martha Tilaar product. In 1986 she built her second factory at Pulo Kambing street II/1, Jakarta Timur.

Martha acquired PT Martina Berto so that she had all of the stock of PT Martina Berto. She also acquired and consolidate some companies to make them in a group named Marta Tilaar Group.
In
1987, they released “Senja di Sriwedari” and it was become a trend of make up. Senja
di Sriwedari was inspired by Indonesian culture. And they always increase their
innovation to create a new trend of make up which is inspired by Indonesian
culture.
We
think that Marta Tilaar is a successful business woman because she can change
salon to be a big group. Marta Tilaar products dominate Indonesian market.
She is a great person, but I want to ask you some questions. How much market share of Marta Tilaar product in Indonesia, and what about Marta Tilaar's export product ?
